On August 30, State Grid Sichuan Electric Power announced the resumption of normal power supply across all industrial and commercial sectors in Sichuan Province, marking a significant recovery from the severe power shortage caused by extreme heat. With temperatures dropping, peak electricity demand fell from 65 million kW to 48 million kW, while large industrial power consumption surged from 156 million kWh to 350 million kWh. Residential usage declined from 473 million kWh to 277 million kWh due to reduced cooling needs. Increased rainfall has alleviated drought conditions, boosting hydropower inflows and reservoir levels—Monkeyyan Reservoir now stands 11 meters above dead water level.
