1.7 million tons of urea plant exploded in India
On Tuesday, an explosion occurred at IFFCO's Phulpur nitrogen fertilizer plant in Uttar Pradesh. At present, 2 people were killed and 16 people were injured.
The cause of the explosion is suspected to be an ammonia tank explosion caused by a natural gas pipeline leak. The two-day nitrogen fertilizer production line of the plant was built in 1981 and 1997 respectively. At present, the annual production capacity of urea is 1.7 million tons and the annual production capacity of liquid ammonia is 1 million tons.
As early as December 22, 2020, the plant had a natural gas pipeline leak. At that time, 2 people were killed and 10 people were injured.
April is the traditional maintenance season for domestic urine plants in India. The incident may prompt other urine plants in India to enter the shutdown period ahead of schedule this year.
