Hainan’s Border Closure: Yangpu Develops into an International Container Hub, Injecting New Momentum
China News Service, Yangpu Port, Hainan, April 21 (Shu Yunxing) COSCO Shipping Yangpu Port announced on the 21st that recently, a batch of containers fully loaded with brand-new motorcycle parts departed from Chongqing Guoyuan Port by rail, transferred through Zhanjiang Port by sea, and successfully arrived at COSCO Shipping Yangpu Port. After completing customs clearance procedures, the goods were loaded onto ships for export to Yangon, Myanmar. This marks the first "one-time declaration, single document throughout" sea-rail multimodal transport business at COSCO Shipping Yangpu Port.
This move signifies a critical breakthrough in the development of the new Western Land-Sea Corridor and the Hainan Free Trade Port's "rail-sea linkage and hub distribution," adding new momentum to the establishment of Yangpu as an international container hub port.
In the past, enterprises in the southwestern region had to first transport goods to South China ports for customs declaration, then transfer for outbound procedures. Personnel needed to travel between three locations for coordination, submit segmented reports, and undergo multiple verifications. The transportation cycle exceeded seven days, resulting in high logistics and communication costs, and potentially affecting delivery timelines during peak seasons.
Now, enterprises only need to complete a "one-time declaration" locally, and cargo information is seamlessly shared across customs districts and transportation modes via the international trade "single window." After arriving in Zhanjiang by rail, the goods are directly transferred to sea transport, and upon reaching Yangpu, they undergo rapid customs clearance. Enterprises are not involved in intermediate processes, reducing transit time to five days, improving efficiency by nearly 30%, and making the transportation process more convenient and efficient.
Efficient customs clearance is attributed to the collaboration between COSCO Shipping Yangpu Port and other ports, as well as the efficient coordination under customs support and guidance. Before the goods arrive at the port, proactive coordination with Chongqing and Zhanjiang ports is conducted to streamline process bottlenecks and identify potential risks. Once the goods arrive at the port, data entry is promptly completed, ensuring the "last hundred meters" connection is smooth and guaranteeing rapid cargo turnover.
Since the launch of the multimodal transport pilot policy in January 2026, COSCO Shipping Yangpu Port, under customs guidance, has completed 65 export multimodal transport transactions and 2 import multimodal transport transactions, continuously enhancing its hub radiation capacity. (End)
