International Maritime Organization: About 20000 seafarers and 15000 cruise passengers in the Gulf region will be affected

The Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization Domingos issued a statement on March 5, expressing deep concern about the recent attacks on international ships in the Middle East and the Strait of Hormuz. He noted that tensions in the region had directly affected the safety and well-being of some 20000 seafarers and 15000 cruise passengers. Domingos emphasized that the International Maritime Organization is willing to cooperate with all stakeholders to ensure the safety of the lives of affected persons. He once again called on all shipping companies to maintain the highest level of vigilance when operating in relevant waters, and urged all parties to work together to ease the current situation as soon as possible to ensure that international shipping can resume normal operations and maintain the smooth and safe maritime channels.
