Jiaxing Port’s cargo throughput surged 17.91% in the first two months of the year, as the Jiaxing Maritime Safety Administration implemented targeted measures to ensure a strong start to the year.
On March 18, the Jiaxing Maritime Bureau released data showing that from January to February this year, the cargo throughput of Jiaxing Port reached 24.6288 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 17.91%. Among them, the foreign trade cargo throughput was 4.0564 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 28.82%, and the container throughput was 762,400 TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 20.34%.
Behind this report card is the vivid practice of the Jiaxing Maritime Bureau's precise policy implementation and full escort. Cross-domain collaboration has cleared "bottlenecks," significantly improving navigation efficiency. In the sea area at the Zhejiang-Shanghai border, the "detour" issue that once troubled foreign ships entering and leaving Jiaxing Port is becoming history. The Jiaxing Maritime Bureau continues to promote the Zhejiang-Shanghai pilotage resource sharing mechanism, making it smoother for foreign ships to enter and leave the port. At the same time, for the newly opened 64 TEU route in the Dushan inland port pool, the maritime department provides proactive services to ensure a leap in container throughput in this area—completing 226,600 TEUs in the first two months, a year-on-year surge of 147.87%, adding weight to Jiaxing Port's hub status in the Yangtze River Delta comprehensive transportation system.
Government services "never close," and enterprises genuinely feel the benefits. "Consultant services" and "appointment services" have become the distinctive cards of the Jiaxing Maritime Bureau. By setting up "enterprise service posts," maritime personnel provide full-cycle precise guidance to enterprises in the jurisdiction, responding to everything from government affairs processing to special needs. In the first two months of this year, they provided "port appointment services" 89 times, helping enterprises save over 4.45 million yuan in operating costs. In terms of joint boarding inspections, maritime, border inspection, customs, and other departments work together to conduct one-time joint inspections on international sailing vessels arriving at the port, avoiding repeated boardings and multiple declarations, significantly reducing the waiting time for ships in port.
The safety defense line is further strengthened to escort high-quality development. In response to the safety risks of old liquid cargo ships, the Jiaxing Maritime Bureau implements source control and differentiated supervision on oil tankers and chemical ships aged 26 years and above, forcing enterprises to preferentially select ships from the source and reduce the number of low-quality old ships arriving at the port. Meanwhile, collision prevention reminders for commercial and fishing vessels have become a "compulsory course" for port entry applications, with a total of 216 verifications and confirmations from January to February, firmly maintaining the static safety baseline on the water.
New routes are continuously opening, accelerating the "new three" to go overseas. This year, Jiaxing Port successfully opened its first direct route to Turkey, and so far, it has 2 container ocean routes, 12 near-sea routes, 1 foreign trade feeder route, 15 domestic direct routes, and 45 sea-river intermodal routes, with the route network becoming increasingly dense. Notably, for "new three" goods such as lithium batteries and photovoltaic products, the maritime department proactively conducts "same loading, same inspection" services, promoting deep linkage between "express trains" and "maritime express lines," achieving "zero waiting time" for land-sea intermodal transport, helping high-quality domestic products accelerate their journey overseas.
A relevant person in charge of the Jiaxing Maritime Bureau stated that the next step will be to continue deepening smart supervision and multi-department linkage, injecting strong maritime momentum into the high-quality development and high-level opening of Jiaxing Port with more efficient maritime services and a better port business environment.
