China Classification Society Shanghai Branch Innovatively Conducts 2026 New Employee Orientation Training

Recently, the Shanghai Branch of China Classification Society successfully concluded the one-and-a-half-month centralized training for new employees of 2026. This training focused on the main theme of "strengthening the foundation and empowering growth," tailored to "job requirements" with a customized "job-specific teaching" plan. It adopted a dual-phase approach of "2 weeks of introductory general study + 4 weeks of frontline production practice," helping 11 new employees secure the "first button" of their career journey.

Instilling values and nurturing talent, emphasizing ideological guidance. New employees visited the Memorial Hall of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China to inherit the red legacy and solidify their original mission. They also visited the Jiangnan Shipbuilding Museum to experience industrial heritage and strengthen their commitment to serving the construction of a maritime power. The disciplinary inspection department delivered the "first lesson on political guidance and integrity in employment," ensuring adherence to ethical boundaries. A youth group was established for the new employee training class, conducting weekly discussions every Friday to foster ideological exchange and mutual growth.

Strengthening the foundation and solidifying expertise in ship inspection. Members of the branch leadership explained the International Maritime Organization and the International Association of Classification Societies, providing an in-depth analysis of IMO (International Maritime Organization) convention mechanisms and IACS (International Association of Classification Societies) technical standards, broadening the perspective on global maritime governance. Key staff systematically taught core business areas such as classification and statutory inspection systems, as well as quality management systems, building professional knowledge frameworks. Keeping pace with industry trends, they analyzed the green, low-carbon, and digital delivery trends in ships to enhance forward-thinking capabilities. Rigorous HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental Management System) individual protection practical assessments and emergency drills were conducted to reinforce safety awareness boundaries.

Going to the frontlines to hone practical inspection skills. New employees were sent to Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group (Changxing Island Factory) for 4 weeks of new ship inspection production practice. They rotated between the No. 1 construction line and the No. 0 outfitting trial line, immersing themselves in the construction of high-tech vessels such as 13,600 TEU large container ships and 174,000 cubic meter large LNG carriers. They applied theoretical knowledge to on-site inspections and, under the guidance of mentoring instructors, transformed "what they observed on-site" into "professional thinking."

With the successful conclusion of the centralized training, new employees will undergo job practice training in various departments under the guidance of mentoring instructors over the next year. The Shanghai Branch will continue to optimize the full-cycle talent cultivation mechanism, fully leveraging the "mentorship and guidance" role of senior ship surveyors to help young employees strengthen their skills and grow their capabilities through practice, injecting vibrant youthful energy into building a world-class modern China Classification Society.
