Highlights at a glance
This week, domestic soda ash prices rose steadily, with light soda ash priced at 2200–2400 CNY/ton and heavy soda ash at 2300–2600 CNY/ton. Despite slight supply adjustments due to reduced operational loads at some plants, increasing downstream demand improved market transactions. Manufacturer inventories dropped sharply from 540,000 to 440,000 tons (−18.52%), as new orders surged and production schedules filled through month-end. The market operated stably, supported by strong order fulfillment. Looking ahead, downstream sectors plan production increases but remain cautious amid limited demand growth, potentially slowing price gains and leading to fluctuating market conditions. Profitability improved across production methods: combined alkali method profits reached 940 CNY/ton (+199.5 CNY/ton weekly), while ammonia-alkali method profits hit 525.5 CNY/ton (+162.5 CNY/ton). Industry operating rates dipped slightly to 84.50%, with approximately 650,000 tons produced this week.
