The 2026 South China Sea fishing season resumed on August 16, with nearly 5,000 vessels navigating through Qiongzhou Strait. To prevent collision risks, Haikou Communication Center and Haikou Maritime Bureau collaborated to monitor communication channels, deploying professionals aboard the ‘Haixun 1102’ vessel. Equipped with portable monitoring devices, the team conducted real-time monitoring of VHF channels 16 and 08 and AIS frequencies, ensuring smooth vessel coordination and maritime safety operations. Additionally, they collected and analyzed frequency spectrum data to address radio interference risks during peak fishing activities. Moving forward, Haikou Communication Center will continue electromagnetic environment monitoring in key maritime areas to safeguard navigation and prevent commercial vessel collisions effectively.
