Haikou Communication Center makes every effort to ensure smooth communication for the opening of the fishing season.
At 12:00 on August 16, the three-and-a-half-month summer fishing moratorium in the South China Sea officially ended. Fishing boats from northern Hainan, western Guangdong, and southern Guangxi densely passed through the Qiongzhou Strait to go out to sea. On the first day of fishing, nearly 5,000 fishing vessels were expected to cross the strait. To effectively prevent the risk of collisions between commercial and fishing vessels, the Haikou Communication Center, focusing on its core function of maritime communication support, joined forces with the Haikou Maritime Safety Administration to fully ensure the start of fishing. They dispatched personnel aboard the "Haixun 1102" vessel to carry out radio monitoring and support work along the Qiongzhou Strait passenger and cargo transport route.

During the operation, personnel carried portable monitoring equipment on board, focusing on real-time signal monitoring of maritime VHF channels 16 and 08, as well as the dedicated frequency of the Automatic Identification System (AIS). They closely tracked the communication channel occupancy during the peak departure times of fishing vessels, investigating suspicious signals one by one to ensure smooth communication for vessel coordination and maritime department dispatch instructions. To address potential radio interference risks caused by the concentrated passage of fishing vessels, personnel collected spectrum data on-site and analyzed signal quality, effectively supporting the maintenance of navigation order on-site.
Next, the Haikou Communication Center will strengthen coordination and collaboration with maritime departments, focusing on its primary responsibility of communication monitoring. It will continue to monitor the electromagnetic environment in key waters after the start of fishing, providing solid communication technology support to prevent and mitigate the risk of collisions between commercial and fishing vessels.
