Shanghai and Hong Kong to deepen cooperation in digital transformation across freight trade and the financial sector.
China News Service, Hong Kong, March 2nd - The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), Shanghai Data Bureau, and the National Blockchain Technology Innovation Center (referred to as the "National Innovation Center") announced on the 2nd that they have jointly signed the "Shanghai-Hong Kong Freight Trade and Financial Digitization Cooperation Memorandum" in Hong Kong. This aims to further promote in-depth cooperation between Shanghai and Hong Kong in the fields of digital empowerment of freight trade and finance, leveraging Hong Kong's unique advantages as a "super connector" and "super value-added person" to facilitate internal and external communication, and support Shanghai's connection to the international data ecosystem through Hong Kong.
According to the cooperation memorandum, the HKMA, Shanghai Data Bureau, and the National Innovation Center will jointly research innovative cooperation in digital technology and applications, promoting innovation in the application of digital technology in the fields of freight trade and finance.

Deputy Chief Executive of the HKMA, Li Da-zhi, expressed anticipation for promoting innovation in the application of digital technology in the fields of freight trade and finance, promoting joint innovation achievements in digital technology, exploring digital infrastructure in Shanghai and Hong Kong, promoting the digitization of trade finance, and committing to facilitating the connection of mainland freight and trade data with the international data ecosystem through Hong Kong.
Director of the Shanghai Data Bureau, Shao Jun, stated that this cooperation will fully leverage Shanghai's advantages in data resource integration and application scenario expansion, working hand in hand with Hong Kong to promote innovative practices in digital empowerment of shipping trade and finance.
