Tianjin New Port Maritime Bureau ensures safe loading and convenient shipping of large sintering machine equipment.
During the National Day holiday, in the jurisdiction of the Tianjin Xingang Maritime Safety Administration, a batch of large-scale sintering machine components underwent orderly loading operations. This set of sintering machines, produced by Northern Heavy Industry Group, is a key metallurgical sintering export equipment. It features wide adaptability to raw materials, mature and stable processes, and the ability to handle various iron-containing materials such as iron concentrate, rich ore, steel slag, and return ore. The equipment is equipped with domestically produced control boards, enabling automated feeding, ignition, ventilation, and online monitoring of temperature and negative pressure. It can remove harmful impurities like sulfur, phosphorus, and arsenic, aligning with current carbon emission control requirements. Once operational, the equipment will support key steel projects in Gujarat, India, serving as a vivid example of industrial cooperation between China and overseas partners. The Tianjin Xingang Maritime Safety Administration provided proactive services, accurate supervision, and worked hard to ensure the safe loading of this large metallurgical equipment, facilitating the journey of domestically produced large-scale equipment along the "Belt and Road" to destinations abroad, enhancing the reputation of "Chinese Intelligent Manufacturing."

As the core equipment for steel metallurgy production, the entire set of sintering machine components involves numerous parts, each with a large size and irregular shape, categorizing them as typical heavy cargo items. Due to the characteristics of the cargo, the loading operations this time were fraught with significant risks and challenges: to secure the large components, a specialized safety assessment had to be completed and a customized loading plan devised prior to loading. Additionally, numerous welding and baffle-fixing procedures were required on-site, resulting in a high frequency of open-flame operations. The overlapping of hot-work operations with the hoisting of large items created deeply intertwined risk areas. Coupled with the high value of the equipment and the complexity of the loading process, stringent requirements were imposed on on-site safety management.
To ensure the safe and smooth loading of the heavy equipment, the Tianjin Xingang Maritime Safety Administration intervened in advance, proactively engaging with production enterprises, terminal units, and shipping parties to thoroughly understand the cargo parameters, loading plans, and open-flame operation schedules, and to categorize potential safety risks. In response to the multiple welding and frequent open-flame operations on the ship, maritime law enforcement officers closely monitored key operation periods, intensified on-site inspections, and strictly enforced regulations on hot-work operational management. On-site, they reviewed open-flame operation filing documents and tri-party operational inspection forms, inspected the configuration of fire emergency equipment, and urged operators to implement safety measures such as fire isolation, on-site dedicated supervision, and ventilation in work areas to prevent welding slag from igniting surrounding combustible materials. Simultaneously, they conducted supervision and inspections of critical aspects such as cargo lashing and securing, lifting plans, and ship stability calculations, guiding relevant parties to optimize loading sequences and coordinate the blending of lifting and welding operations. They strictly prevented displacement or falling risks of components, ensuring that each sintering machine component was firmly secured and stably loaded.
From factory manufacturing, gathering at Tianjin Port, to maritime escorting for overseas shipments, the overseas journey of domestically produced major equipment is backed by the full-chain safety assurance of the maritime department. Moving forward, the Tianjin Xingang Maritime Safety Administration will continue to optimize its oversight and service measures for the transportation of foreign-related heavy cargo, ensuring that more major "Chinese Intelligent Manufacturing" equipment sails abroad, contributing to the high-quality co-construction of the "Belt and Road."
