1.52 Billion! Annual Production of 600 Million Square Meters: China Electronics Technology Group's Wet-Process Lithium Battery Separator Project Commences

   According to the latest news from China Electronics Technology Group, on the morning of July 6th, the China Electronics Technology Group's high-performance wet-process lithium battery separator project officially commenced in Bengbu, Anhui Province, marking the official establishment of the project in Yuhui District, Bengbu City.

   The China Electronics Technology Group's high-performance wet-process lithium battery separator project in Bengbu has a total investment of 1.52 billion yuan. It will mainly construct four wet-process lithium-ion battery separator production lines and supporting coating production lines. Once completed, the project will have an annual production capacity of 600 million square meters of high-performance wet-process separators.

   Before the commencement of the Bengbu project, on June 2nd, China Electronics Technology Group's high-performance wet-process lithium battery separator project in Yibin, Sichuan Province, was successfully launched in the Sanjiang New District of Yibin. The project, invested and constructed by Qingdao China Electronics Technology Group New Materials Co., Ltd., has a total investment of 5 billion yuan. It covers an area of about 270 acres and plans to construct eight wet-process base film production lines and supporting coating production lines, with an expected annual capacity of 1.6 billion square meters.

   In addition to the above-mentioned projects, China Electronics Technology Group's Sichuan Suining Separator Project has also commenced. "Since the project started on January 3rd, it has been progressing rapidly according to the scheduled timeline. Currently, roadbed laying and foundation pit pouring are underway, and all foundation construction is expected to be completed by the end of April. In May, we will begin steel structure construction and aim for trial production in September," said Liao Shuixiang, the person in charge of the wet-process lithium battery separator production project at China Electronics Technology Group. "The target for the first quarter was to carry out the foundation construction, and by the end of March, 60% of the foundation construction was completed, exceeding the 'kick-off' task. By the end of this year, we will complete a 1 billion yuan investment task and are expected to release 50% of the production capacity."

   Furthermore, on March 24th, the BlueTech new product launch conference was held in Yongji, Shanxi Province. The research and development achievements of BlueTech have achieved "superior, ultra-thin, and ultra-wide" properties. In terms of strength, BlueTech separators have a bi-directional tensile strength of 300-400 MPa, and the puncture strength of the separator can reach 100 gf/μm. In terms of thinness, BlueTech separators cover a range of thicknesses from 3 to 12 μm, with a porosity of 40%-50%, combining superior strength, ultra-thinness, high porosity, and low permeability. In terms of width, BlueTech's new production line has a width of 7.5 meters, a production speed of 80 meters per minute, and a multiplied increase in production capacity.

   It is reported that the Shanxi BlueTech lithium battery separator project is a key project in Shanxi Province, a key project in Yuncheng City (1311 project), and a major project in Yongji City (4515 project). Shanxi BlueTech has already put into operation two wet-process lithium-ion battery production lines with an annual production capacity of 200 million square meters. Six production lines are under construction, and it is expected to reach a total output value of 1.2 billion square meters after completion.

   According to the information, BlueTech is a subsidiary of China Electronics Technology Group and is mainly engaged in the research, production, and sales of wet-process lithium-ion battery separator complete sets of equipment, providing customers with overall automation production line solutions. As early as 2021, BlueTech introduced a high-end lithium battery separator project plan, with a planned total investment of 13 billion yuan to establish 11 basestationnwided, and construct 52 new large-width, ultra-high-strength separator production lines, with an estimated annual production capacity of about 7.5 billion square meters.

   Zhi Lipeng, Chairman of China Electronics Technology Group, stated that in the future, with the completion of more production bases, BlueTech's total separator production capacity is expected to reach 8 billion square meters by 2025. This will allow for more comprehensive and in-depth cooperation with battery manufacturers, improving battery material technology research and development capabilities, production capacity guarantee capabilities, overall manufacturing capabilities of the industrial chain, and green development capabilities for recycling and circulation, further promoting the efficient and healthy development of the new energy battery industry.
