African countries and Russia call for the removal of barriers to Russian grain and fertilizer exports

On the 4th, the Kremlin's website in Russia announced a joint statement from President Putin's meeting with the African Peace Delegation on July 28th. The statement calls on relevant parties to take specific measures to eliminate barriers to Russian grain and fertilizer exports.

The statement said that the participants noted progress on humanitarian issues discussed during the meeting between Russia and the African Peace Delegation on June 17th, especially concerning the rights of children in conflict zones and the matter of exchanging detainees between Russia and Ukraine. All parties believe that humanitarian efforts will continue to yield results.

The statement said that the participants called on relevant parties to take specific measures to eliminate barriers to Russian grain and fertilizer exports, thereby fully restoring the implementation of the Black Sea agricultural export agreement. At the same time, they urged the United Nations to take necessary measures to release 200,000 tons of Russian fertilizer detained in EU ports, so that it can be immediately transported to African countries free of charge.

The statement mentioned that the participants agreed to continue dialogue on the peace plan proposed by African countries to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

In June of this year, the African Peace Delegation, composed of leaders and special envoys from countries like South Africa, visited Ukraine and Russia successively, proposing a peace plan to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict. This includes ending the war through negotiations and diplomatic means and de-escalating the conflict by both sides.

The African Peace Delegation visited Russia again on July 27th and 28th during the second Russia-Africa summit, continuing mediation efforts on the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
