Macron: France and the United States to Focus on Freedom of Navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and Advance a Russia-Ukraine Peace Agreement

September 22: French President Emmanuel Macron said that he met with U.S. President Donald Trump immediately after arriving in New York. Macron said, "We decided to act together to ease tensions in energy markets, protect critical infrastructure in the Middle East and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. We will also work together to seek an agreement on a pause in strikes against energy infrastructure and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. Civilians must be protected, and we must launch serious negotiations on the terms of peace between Russia and Ukraine as soon as possible."
