Guangxi and Fujian Join Forces to Explore New Paths for Land-Sea Coordination
China News Service, Nanning, March 26 (Yu Jing, Yang Yuhang) The 2026 "Silk Road Maritime" annual conference was held in Nanning, Guangxi on the 26th. This is the first time the "Silk Road Maritime" annual conference has moved out of Fujian, aiming to jointly build a new land-sea channel for "Silk Road Maritime" with Guangxi. Representatives from domestic and international port groups and shipping companies discussed new paths for land-sea linkage on core topics such as the navigation of the Pinglu Canal and the development of the maritime economy.
This annual conference is based on the location advantages of Fujian's "Maritime Silk Road Core Area" and Guangxi's "ASEAN Bridgehead," aiming to create the Pinglu Canal Economic Belt, assisting Guangxi in relying on the Pinglu Canal to unblock the bottleneck of river-sea intermodal transport, allowing more enterprises to shift from "watching" to "participating."
Currently, promoting the integrated development of "Silk Road Maritime" port and shipping trade has been officially included in China's "Fifteenth Five-Year Plan" outline. Guangxi Beibu Gulf Port, as the core outlet of the new western land-sea corridor, successfully joined the ranks of "ten million TEU ports" in 2025, with the annual operation of sea-rail intermodal trains exceeding ten thousand; Fujian Port Group, as the birthplace of "Silk Road Maritime," has become an important hub connecting inland and global areas with its rich port and shipping operation experience and comprehensive route network.
With the navigation of the Pinglu Canal imminent, Guangxi and Fujian will leverage Guangxi's geographical advantage adjacent to ASEAN to promote deep cooperation between China's southeastern coastal port group and the Beibu Gulf port group, providing strong support for seamless connection between international shipping and China-Europe trains, regional railway networks, and expanding the Eurasian hinterland market.
It is reported that "Silk Road Maritime" is China's first "Belt and Road" international shipping comprehensive logistics service brand and platform created by Fujian Province leveraging its maritime advantages. Since its launch in 2018, the brand has continuously deepened the integrated development of port and shipping trade, with alliance member units reaching 375, and 148 "Silk Road Maritime" routes originating from more than ten ports in Guangxi, Fujian, and other parts of China, covering 150 ports in 48 countries and regions worldwide, becoming an important link connecting China and the world, and integrating land and sea.
On the same day, the "Silk Road Maritime" alliance new member awarding ceremony and the 2025 "Silk Road Maritime" route annual quality service award ceremony were held simultaneously on-site, further expanding the alliance camp and enlarging the cooperation "circle of friends." (End)
