Taicang Port's direct shipping service to Jeddah Port successfully launched.

On October 9, the "Desman Rose" vessel, carrying nearly a thousand containers of export goods, departed from the Zhenghe Xinggang Terminal at Taicang Port and headed for Jeddah Port in Saudi Arabia, marking the successful launch of a direct container express route from Taicang Port to the Middle East. Jeddah Port is the largest deep-water hub port along the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia and serves as a core platform for connecting China's Belt and Road Initiative with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030. It covers Saudi Arabia and nearly 30 countries and regions in the Middle East. The launch of the direct express route will create a new efficient and stable maritime logistics channel for trade between the Yangtze River Delta region and Saudi Arabia as well as other Middle Eastern countries.

To support the development of the new route, Taicang Maritime Bureau proactively utilized its professional expertise to ensure the safe and stable operation of the new route. The bureau gathered prior knowledge of the direct shipping vessels, their dynamic information, and operational needs at the port, prioritizing berthing and departure arrangements. It guided the port and ships to properly load and secure container cargo, ensuring safe transportation. Considering the time-sensitive nature of express shipping schedules, the bureau established a green administrative approval channel, implemented conditional processing, and minimized the time required to complete entry and exit approval procedures, ensuring "zero waiting time" for vessel entry and exit approvals. This saved time and costs for shipping companies. During vessel departure, the bureau meticulously organized traffic management, closely monitored meteorological and hydrological information, and used smart maritime platforms, video surveillance, and other digital tools to track vessel dynamics, ensuring safe entry and exit from the port.

Going forward, the Taicang Maritime Bureau will continue to leverage the geographical, policy, and service advantages of Taicang's core port to support the optimization and enhancement of international shipping routes at Taicang Port, contributing maritime strength to the development of "Waterborne Jiangsu."
