2,4D Product Introduction

2,4-D is the abbreviation of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid. As the world's first synthetic organic herbicide, it has played an important role in the agricultural field since its introduction in the 1940s. It belongs to the phenoxycarboxylic acid herbicide and has the characteristics of systemic hormone transmission. It can be absorbed through the roots, stems and leaves of plants and transmitted in the plant body to exert its weed control effect.

1. Mechanism of Action​
The mechanism of action of 2,4-D is relatively unique. When it enters the plant body, it will simulate the effect of auxin and interfere with the balance of hormones in the plant body. Under normal circumstances, the hormones in the plant body are in a balanced state, controlling the growth and development of the plant. However, the intervention of 2,4-D breaks this balance, causing abnormal division and growth of plant cells. Specifically, the stems and leaves of the weeds become twisted, the stem base becomes thicker, and the weeds swell and crack, and eventually die due to the stunted growth and development. Especially for dicotyledons, 2,4-D shows high herbicidal activity. This is because dicotyledons are more sensitive to changes in hormones, and the interference of 2,4-D is more likely to cause fatal effects on them.

2. Scope of application

Weed control in farmland: 2,4-D is widely used in farmland environments such as wheat fields, corn fields, and rice fields. In wheat fields, it can effectively control broad-leaved weeds such as Artemisia selengensis, Shepherd's purse, Ophiopogon japonicus, Vaccaria selengensis, Bindweed, and Chenopodium album; in corn fields and sorghum fields, it can be used to control Amaranthus retroflexus, Xanthium sibiricum, Cyperus rotundus, and Echinops punctatus; in rice fields, it can deal with weeds such as Tripterygium wilfordii, Duck tongue grass, Alisma orientalis, and Sagittaria sagittifolia. 

Weed control in non-arable land: In addition to farmland, 2,4-D can also play an important role in non-arable land such as roads, railways, airports, oil depots, barren mountains, and forests. When mixed with other herbicides or glyphosate, it can effectively remove weeds in these areas, keep the environment clean, and reduce the impact of weeds on infrastructure and the ecological environment. ​

Orchard weeding: 2,4-D is also applicable between rows of deep-rooted fruit trees such as apples, pears, citrus, and peaches, as well as tea gardens and rubber plantations. It can remove weeds between rows without harming the root systems of fruit trees, reduce the competition between weeds and fruit trees for nutrients and water, and is beneficial to ventilation and light transmission in orchards, promoting the growth of fruit trees and improving the quality of fruits.
