Highlights at a glance
Polyaluminium chloride (PAC) is a highly effective inorganic polymer water treatment agent, available as a light yellow to brownish-yellow liquid or solid crystalline powder, with high alumina content (8–40%) ensuring superior purification performance. It functions through hydrolysis, electrochemistry, coagulation, adsorption, and precipitation, effectively removing organic pollutants and heavy metal ions. Prepared economically from industrial aluminum scraps via acid dissolution or spray drying, PAC offers high purity and process efficiency. Spray-dried PAC exhibits excellent stability, rapid hydrolysis, strong floc formation, fast settling, and low residual turbidity, reducing dosage requirements by up to 50% compared to conventional methods, lowering costs and labor. With a wide pH range and low water-insoluble content (<0.3% in solids, <0.1% in liquids), it ensures smooth pipeline operation and high drug utilization. Compliant with GB15892-2009 standards, it is ideal for drinking, urban, and industrial water treatment. Its high polymerization degree enables superior charge neutralization, double-layer compression, and bridging adsorption, outperforming traditional coagulants like ferrous sulfate.
