Highlights at a glance
Indoxacarb, a dihydropyrazole insecticide developed by DuPont, effectively controls lepidopteran pests through a unique mode of action by blocking sodium ion channels in insects. It acts via contact and ingestion, rapidly stopping feeding within 3–4 hours and causing paralysis and death within 24–60 hours. Stable under UV light and effective at high temperatures, it is rainfast and strongly adheres to foliage. Though not systemic, it has strong penetration properties. With low water solubility, high efficacy, and minimal mammalian toxicity, it’s also used in formulations against cockroaches, ants, and public health pests. Approved for use on a wide range of crops—including vegetables, fruits, cotton, and potatoes—it targets key pests like diamondback moth, armyworms, and codling moth. Indoxacarb shows no cross-resistance with other insecticides, is safe for non-target organisms, and supports IPM and resistance management. Its low crop residues allow harvest as early as two days post-application, making it ideal for multiple-harvest crops.
