It appears as white powder or opaque, fine crystals of the monoclinic system. It is odorless and has a salty taste. Its solubility in water is lower than that of sodium carbonate. When the solid is heated above 50℃, it starts to decompose gradually into sodium carbonate, carbon dioxide, and water, and decomposes completely at 270℃. 1. Preparation Methods
Natural Soda Processing Method: Using natural soda as the raw material, due to its high impurity content, strict control of soda dissolving temperature, concentration, and mother liquor circulation times is required during the preparation of the alkali solution. The total salt content in the mother liquor should be more than 240g/L. After dissolving the soda, the concentration of the alkali solution should meet the requirements: sodium carbonate > 150g/L, sodium chloride
Waste Alkali Solution Recovery Method: In the soda ash production process, the flue gas generated by the soda ash calciner still contains a relatively large amount of alkali powder after cyclone separation. This flue gas is recovered with hot alkali to dissolve the alkali powder in the alkali solution. During the cyclic dissolution process, part of the alkali solution is sent to the ammonia distillation tower to distill off the ammonia in the hot alkali solution, further concentrating the alkali solution, which is used as the alkali solution raw material for the production of baking soda. The mixed gas of ammonia, carbon dioxide, and water coming out of the top of the ammonia distillation tower enters the original flue gas cooling tower. The mother liquor after separation and dehydration in the baking soda production is used for the circulation of the hot alkali solution to dissolve and recover the alkali powder in the flue gas, forming a production cycle.
Gas - Solid Phase Method: Sodium carbonate is placed on a reaction bed (reaction tank) and mixed well with water. Carbon dioxide is blown in from the bottom for the first carbonization reaction. After primary crushing, the second carbonization reaction is carried out. Then, through drying and crushing, the finished sodium bicarbonate product is obtained.
Gas - Liquid Phase Method: Soda ash is dissolved and filtered to remove impurities, and the concentration is maintained at 23 - 24°Bé. The concentration of carbon dioxide generated by the lime kiln is maintained at 20% - 25%. After washing and purification treatment, it is carbonized with the hot alkali solution, and the tower pressure is maintained at 0.2 - 0.25MPa. When the material concentration reaches 13°Bé, the reaction ends. After cooling, crystallization, and filtration, baking soda crystals are obtained, and then the finished sodium bicarbonate product is obtained through air flow drying.
