Highlights at a glance
Pendimethalin is a widely used selective pre- and early post-emergence herbicide effective in controlling annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in upland crops. It works by inhibiting cell mitosis through binding to tubulin after being absorbed by germinating weed shoots, stems, and roots, ultimately preventing shoot and root development. Commonly applied in corn, soybeans, cotton, peanuts, vegetables, and other fields, it targets key weeds like barnyardgrass, crabgrass, foxtail, pigweed, and lambsquarters. Application rates vary: 33% EC at 30–45 mL/100 m² for soybeans and peanuts, 30 mL/100 m² for corn, and 15–22 mL/100 m² for vegetables. The herbicide is typically applied pre-emergence or pre-transplant, with incorporation into soil for optimal efficacy. As part of modern agricultural solutions, pendimethalin supports efficient weed management within sustainable farming systems.
